AHSIE 2026 Council Nominations

The Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institution Educators (AHSIE) is accepting nominations to fill eight (8) Council seats. Members elected to these seats will serve a three-year term beginning March 2026. Inductions will take place at the annual AHSIE conference, planned for March 8-11, 2026 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Members of the Council govern AHSIE, including organizing the annual conference, working with federal agencies, supporting the work of the nation’s Hispanic Serving Institutions and developing activities that will directly benefit practitioners/educators at HSIs through cooperation, networking, partnerships, information-sharing, technical assistance and collaboration. Individuals elected to the Council will be asked to serve on at least one of its committees and may be elected to serve as an officer.


Election Timeline

January 18th - Nominations open 

February 6th - Nominations close 

Feb 7th - 8th - Elections occur 

Feb 9th - Votes tallied 

Feb 10th - All elected council members notified. 


How to Apply

All nominations, submit a short-written biography, and a photograph must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. PST February 6, 2026. The questionnaire responses will be made available for review on the AHSIE website during the General Election.
 
Voting for the open positions will be available via an online link from February 7, 2026, until February 8th, 2026. The Council President will notify those elected within three business days of the validation of election results.

Any AHSIE member in good standing is eligible to serve on the Council in accordance with the following Bylaws:

Section 1: Council Members
AHSIE Members are eligible to serve on the Council through the election process as delineated in Article VI Section 3. Council members must maintain active membership status during their election cycle and be an employee, retiree, or currently enrolled student of an HSI at the time of election. If a person does not meet these qualifications but would still like to be considered for nomination, they may submit a formal request to the AHSIE Admin. The Council will vote to approve the nomination.  
 
Section 3: Election of Council Members
AHSIE members elect Council members from the AHSIE membership who meet the stipulated criteria as delineated in Article VI, Section 1. The election takes place prior to the annual conference, with the installation of members held at the annual conference. An ad hoc election committee of at least two Council members and a minimum of two AHSIE members at large is appointed by the Executive Committee and directed to manage the election process. For each open seat, Council members are elected by a majority vote of those voting in an election.

All members will be elected to General Council. In addition to General Council, there will be subcommittee work within the following areas of the organization:

Governance and Finance
Marketing and Communication
Scholarships
Strategic Partnerships
