Derek Lopez, Ph.D.
Derek Lopez is currently the Director of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives at Colorado State University Pueblo and is the Project Director for four Title V Grants including two individual grants, a cooperative, and a PPOHA. He has authored, secured, and/or implemented over $20 million dollars of grant-funded programs and publishes on Latino student success in higher education. He earned his Ph.D. from the Stanford University School of Education (SUSE) with a focus on Child and Adolescent Development. Derek is honored to have been selected to serve on the AHSIE Council. He participated in the inaugural class of La Academia de Liderazgo, a Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) leadership development program to increase Latino representation in upper administration at postsecondary institutions. Dr. Lopez has worked across the P-20 education spectrum, including as an early childhood educator and K-8 administrator.
