(January 18, 2023) – Orange, CA - - At their first regular meeting of 2023, the Rancho
Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) Board of Trustees approved the selection of Dr.
Jeannie G. Kim as Santiago Canyon College’s (SCC) new and permanent president. This
champion of socio-economic mobility and advocate of building cultural and social networks via
higher education, will be the sixth leader to serve as SCC president and step into her new role
beginning Wednesday, January 18.
Dr. Kim will spearhead the SCC campus community with 30+ years of experience as a
change agent and leader in private and public institutions of higher learning that include UC,
CSU and Community Colleges. This synergy has fueled her insights into how best to create
communities of innovation within bureaucratic structures. Dr. Kim’s educational career has been
dedicated to crafting equitable systems by identifying and dismantling barriers, while also
rebuilding the appropriate infrastructure necessary allowing historically underserved and
underrepresented students to thrive. She brings a proven track record in succession planning,
establishing organizational infrastructure, facilitating culture shifts, developing strategic
partnerships and evaluation systems for both institutional and program operations.
Dr. Kim is also an expert in grant writing, program and research development as well as High Impact
Practices, from service-learning to undergraduate research.

emphasized.
Dr. Kim comes to SCC from the Riverside Community College District where she served
as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Grants and Economic Development. Prior to this position,
she was also the Interim Vice Chancellor of Educational Services and Strategic Planning.
She holds a doctoral degree in higher education policy, evaluation and reform from
Claremont Graduate University, a master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton
(CSUF) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), both in
Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis on Asian-American Women.
