In this session, Drs. Marcela Cuellar and Gina Garcia will discuss how they leverage HSI research to shape practice and policy. They will draw insights from the report titled "Building Capacity for Equity and Servingness across California’s Hispanic-serving Community Colleges", which has opened opportunities to collaborate with the California Community College system and its chancellor.

They will also discuss their efforts to establish an HSI Research Colectiva, a network of scholars who will bridge research on the experiences and outcomes of students at HSIs to inform policy decisions and improvements in practice. They will open the discussion to audience members to receive feedback on other mechanisms they would like to see scholars using to bridge the gap between research and practice.
